Description du poste

Salary £75-90k DoE

Hello Vet is a modern veterinary practice built around exceptional patient care, outstanding client experience and progressive ways of working.

Our Vision is to be the World's Most Trusted Veterinary care provider. Our Purpose is to build the Vet we want for our loved ones, whether pets or people.

Our culture is optimistic, ambitious and solutions-focused. We value people who are proactive, adaptable, tech positive and committed to continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Clinical Excellence (HoCE), the Veterinary Clinical Development Manager is a hybrid role. You spend 50% of your time as a practising vet on the clinical rota and 50% delivering Hello Vet's clinical development programmes. Where the HoCE sets the clinical standard and development strategy, you are the person who makes it happen: you develop and run the graduate programme, mentor and upskill clinicians across a broad range of subjects, deliver onboarding and training, and develop a compelling CPD programme that is industry leading. Being in clinic every week keeps your training real, relevant and grounded in what our teams do day to day.

Broad areas of responsibility
  • Client-facing clinical service (50%- including part of the Pod weekend rota)
  • Graduate programme delivery
  • Clinical mentoring and upskilling
  • Clinical training and onboarding
  • Para-clinical skills training
  • CPD delivery
  • Embedding clinical standards through quality improvement and training
  • Training content, data and reporting
  • Value and efficiency of clinical development
Pillar: Pet - Outcomes so good, the industry follows

Our patients consistently receive care that is personal to them, evidence-based and innovation-led.

As a practising clinician, you will deliver great patient care yourself and turn our clinical standards into the skills our team uses every day. You will:

  • Maintain a regular clinical caseload for 50% of your time, delivering evidence-based, compassionate, personalised care.
  • Model and apply the clinical protocols, guidelines and treatment pathways set by the HoCE, using a fully contextualised approach to care.
  • Develop and turn new and updated protocols into practical training, so every Pod applies them consistently.
  • Build the preventive mindset into training, helping teams see that extending every patient's health span matters as much as treating illness.
  • Deliver case audit and incident review activity under the HoCE's governance framework, and feed the learning back into training.
  • Act as a primary clinical point of support for graduates on complex cases, escalating to the HoCE where needed.
  • Support the trial and roll‑out of new diagnostics, therapeutics and care models by training teams in their use.
Pillar: Team - A job so good, you recruit your friends

Our team has the tools, support and training to do work they are proud of.

You are the hands‑on lead for developing our clinicians, making sure everyone from new graduates to experienced vets and nurses gets the support they need to grow. You will:

  • Graduate programme: Help develop and deliver Hello Vet's graduate programme end to end, including induction, rotations, case logs, regular reviews and sign‑off. Support graduates through the RCVS VetGDP, acting as a VetGDP Adviser and coordinating other Advisers across the pods.
  • Mentoring and up‑skilling: Coordinate and provide hands‑on coaching in clinics, through the steering of the Pod Directors and the HoCE.
  • Training and onboarding: Deliver clinical induction and onboarding for every new vet and nurse, in conjunction with their team leads, so they are confident and safe on the rota as quickly as possible.
  • CPD: Plan and deliver a CPD calendar (in‑person, online and practical workshops), agreed with the HoCE and based on a regular training needs analysis.
  • Track graduate and clinician progress against competency frameworks, and flag concerns early to clinical leads and the HoCE.
  • Support clinical leads with training plans that form part of the monthly and annual performance review cadence.
  • Champion psychological safety and open reporting in every session you run, and champion VetSafe.
  • Support clinical recruitment, especially graduates, through university and careers events and interviews.
  • Act as an ambassador for Hello Vet's values in every interaction within both clinical and non‑clinical teams.
Pillar: Client - A service so good you tell your friends

Clients are genuine partners in their pet's care, given all options with transparency.

You will make sure our clinicians have the communication skills to deliver a brilliant client experience every time. You will:

  • Model radical transparency in your own consultations, giving clients honest, clear information about their pet's condition, all available options and associated costs.
  • Build client communication into graduate, onboarding and CPD training, covering consultation structure, consent, estimates and difficult conversations.
  • Train teams on the triage, digital recheck and advice pathways developed by the HoCE with the HoCT and CVTO, so remote care is delivered consistently.
  • Support same‑day access and prompt advice through your clinical sessions, and raise operational barriers with the HoCE.
  • Use themes from client feedback and complaints to shape training priorities.
  • Provide first‑line clinical support on complaints involving graduates and new joiners, escalating to the HoCE where needed.
Foundations: Technology & Commercial Sustainability

Tech that serves our team, pets and clients; structural superiority, operational excellence, reinvesting in long‑term advantages.

You will use technology to make learning scalable and measurable, and make sure clinical development delivers real value for the business.

Technology
  • Create and maintain digital training content, including e‑learning modules, recorded sessions and webinars.
  • Use the learning management system (LMS) to deliver, track and report on training, CPD and graduate progress.
  • Train teams on new clinical technologies, digital triage tools and system changes, and gather their feedback for the HoCE and tech/product team.
  • Take part in trials of new clinical tools, giving a practical, in‑clinic perspective.
  • Keep training data accurate so the Data team can build dashboards that show the impact of clinical development.
Commercial Sustainability
  • Teach the importance of accurate clinical record keeping and charging in onboarding and CPD, for both clinical governance and commercial sustainability.
  • Manage clinical development activity within the budget agreed with the HoCE.
  • Help report on the value of clinical development, such as time to competence, graduate retention and reduced reliance on locums.
  • Deliver clinical onboarding and training for new pods as Hello Vet expands, facilitating peer to peer support for team leads and team members alike.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Full registration with the RCVS, and a genuine commitment to a 50% clinical caseload.
  • Solid post‑qualification experience in first opinion small animal practice in the UK.
  • Experience mentoring, supervising or training graduates or junior colleagues.
  • Working knowledge of the RCVS Code of Conduct, VetGDP, RCVS CPD, PSS.
  • A natural coach who finds genuine satisfaction in helping others grow.
  • Highly organised, confident presenter and trainer, comfortable with groups and one to one.
  • Committed to technology, innovation and radical transparency.
Desirable
  • VetGDP Adviser training, or experience running a graduate programme.
  • A teaching or coaching qualification. An RCVS Certificate or Advanced Practitioner status.
  • Experience using clinical data or audit tools to drive quality improvement.

This profile covers the primary responsibilities of the role, not an exhaustive list. As Hello Vet grows, additional duties aligned to the purpose and level of the role may be required. We value flexibility and a willingness to contribute wherever needed.
