Job summary

A community mental health trust in Torquay is seeking a full-time Psychologist/Therapist to provide assessment and therapy for adults with complex mental health needs. The role includes leading a specialist caseload and supporting multidisciplinary practice. Candidates should be fully registered Psychologists with relevant experience in adult mental health. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to service development and ensure high standards of psychological practice.

Job Summary

The role is a full‑time Psychologist/Therapist for adult community mental health within Devon Partnership Trust. Two posts: one permanent at Baywide/Riviera Core Mental Health Team based at Torbay Hospital Health & Wellbeing Hub and another permanent in South Hams and West Devon Core Mental Health Teams (West Devon Core – 0.6 WTE, South Hams Core – 0.4 WTE).

Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological assessment, formulation and therapy for adults with complex and severe mental health difficulties.
  • Lead and supervise a specialist caseload, including clinical leadership, coordination and supervision for trainees and volunteers under the Professional Lead.
  • Support multidisciplinary practice through supervision, advice, consultation, reflective practice, training and joint working.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for governance of psychological practice.
  • Maintain accurate records compliant with Trust practice standards; support service development and redesign projects.
Qualifications
  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent), Counselling Psychologist, Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist.
  • Registration with HCPC/UKCP or other specialist regulatory body; full registration with HCPC required.
  • Master’s level training or higher; experience in diversity awareness and social inequality; experience in adult mental health or psychological therapies.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings; experience of teaching, training and/or supervision is desirable.
