Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist to join the Primary and Community Mental Health Team in Sheffield. The post will sit within a wider expansion of primary and community mental health services across the Sheffield region. It will join a large team of supportive professionals alongside a well‑established group of psychological professions. The role includes clinical work with people living with serious mental health difficulties, working towards delivering services closer to people's homes. You will deliver one‑to‑one client work and will have the chance to support the development and delivery of group work in the service. The role also involves leading staff reflective practice sessions, supporting others with formulation and leading on MDT discussions to support trauma‑informed care. The service is keen to innovate and welcomes applications from those who are interested in shaping service delivery. There may be opportunities for additional training in specific therapies in line with local service needs. The service has invested in new roles and the postholder would be expected to provide clinical supervision and line management to other psychological professionals, as well as consultation to primary care colleagues. This is a great opportunity to be part of delivering needs‑based, yet evidence‑based services in people's communities. As a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, you will work directly within individual, family and/or group therapy settings with service users who are presenting with highly complex and distressing psychological problems, including psychosis, bipolar and complex trauma. The post will, therefore, suit someone who has experience of working with complex presentations. The successful candidate will need to be confident in working autonomously and in managing waiting lists. In addition, you will contribute to the provision of a trauma‑informed care through supporting the staff team in their decision making and psychological knowledge. This includes offering indirect support through facilitating consultation with colleagues, leading reflective practice sessions and providing teaching/training, along with appropriate audit, service development, evaluation and research activities as required.
