Job Summary

EQUIP offers a service to adult residents of Hackney and the City aged 18–65 following a first episode of psychosis. The team works closely with the Early Detection Service, Heads Up, to support people at risk of developing psychosis. The team handles diagnostic uncertainty and focuses on addressing associated distress and disability.

Responsibilities

The purpose is to minimise the risk of future breakdowns and maximise quality of life for the individual by working in active partnership with service users, carers, voluntary and community groups, and statutory services. The post holder will work alongside clinical psychologists already in post to support individuals and their families in line with NICE guidelines for psychosis and schizophrenia, and will be jointly responsible for operational delivery of psychology provision with senior psychologists. The post holder will receive specialist supervision and support from the wider City and Hackney Psychology department.

Qualifications (Essential)
  • Postgraduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology
  • Registered with HCPC
Qualifications (Desirable)
  • Post‑qualification training in CBTp, FI/ family or systemic therapy
Experience (Essential)
  • Specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings
  • Experience working with people experiencing psychosis
  • Experience working clinically within a systemic or family therapy model
Experience (Desirable)
  • Application of clinical/counselling psychology in different cultural contexts
  • Post‑qualification experience working with people experiencing psychosis
  • Teaching, training and/or supervision experience
Skills (Essential)
  • Doctoral‑level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practised within clinical fields of psychology
  • Evidence of CPD as recommended by the BPS
  • Awareness of potential impact of discrimination and disadvantage on mental health
  • Competence in basic IT systems including keyboard skills
Skills (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of at least two specialised and evidence‑based psychological therapies
