Job description

We are looking for a qualified Clinical Associate Psychologist to join our Community Mental Health Team, who will already have experience of working with people with complex mental health problems and developing psychologically informed practice within a multi-disciplinary team. This is a great opportunity to deliver supervised interventions using CBT, ACT and Compassion focused approaches and formulation lead interventions. As a member of the CMHT Psychology service, you will work independently under supervision through group and 1:1 approaches. You will also work to provide consultation, supervision, training and service development within the scope of your CAP role. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person to help build psychological skills within a well-established team. There is the opportunity for hybrid working. The post-holder will contribute to shaping the vision and delivery of group interventions across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. There is an opportunity to provide supervision to other professionals in the CMHT and represent psychological services in Multidisciplinary meetings. This role will also enable you to build on your service evaluation and research skills. You will be professionally, and line managed by a Clinical Psychologist. You will be part of the Portsmouth & Southeast Hampshire Psychological Services, which is comprised of 20 Psychologists and Psychological Therapists with expertise in CBT, DBT, CAT, Art Therapy, IPT, ACT, CFT and EMDR.

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake psychological assessment, formulation, psychological therapy and other types of clinical intervention appropriate to your level of qualification with patients in 2 community Mental Health Teams with the possibility of working on line across the whole Portsmouth and South East Hampshire Division.
  • To offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
  • To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
  • To carry out other clinical work, research activity and training as agreed with the Lead Psychologist.
  • To work cohesively with the Multidisciplinary Team in shaping their psychological understanding.
  • To administer psychometric tools when appropriate (e.g. neuropsychological assessments and screenings).
  • To contribute to our group programme, providing formulations and administrating appropriate group interventions, and delivering these interventions alongside the wider psychological services team across the whole division.
  • To develop skill around indirect psychological formulations for those service users who are not currently able to engage with direct, collaborative assessment.
  • To carry out audit and research as appropriate within the service.
