Job summary

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in the South West Shropshire region invites qualified Clinical Associate in Psychology (Adult) to apply for a permanent full-time CAP role based mainly in Ludlow. The post forms part of an established Primary Care Psychology Service with links to the wider CMHS and the Shropshire Telford and Wrekin psychology group.

CAPs will manage a caseload, deliver group and individual interventions, and work under supervision to support NHS priorities in expanding

Qualifications

• Accredited MSc Clinical Associate in Psychology (Adult).
• Experience as a CAP in Adult Mental Health (MH).
• Evidence of CPD and ongoing professional development.
• Experience working within MDTs.
• Experience of group interventions and case formulation.

Responsibilities

• Work as a semi-autonomous psychological practitioner under supervision by HCPC registered colleagues.
• Provide specialist psychological services to adults with complex mental health needs via group and individual interventions.
• Collaborate with the Shropshire PCN / Primary Care Psychology Team to deliver evidence-based care.
• Manage a defined caseload and make proactive care delivery decisions within scope of practice.
• Plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care.

We are delighted to invite qualified CAPs (Adult) to apply for our Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) role in South West Shropshire.

This is a permanent full-time role in an established Primary care Psychology Service. This service provides a group programme with individual assessment and formulation across South West Shropshire mainly based in Ludlow. There are close links with the wider CMHS and the Shropshire Telford and Wrekin psychology group. We have regular topic and business meetings and there are opportunities to shadow senior psychologists.

CAPs are a new addition to the psychological workforce and have an important role supporting the wider NHS agenda to develop and expand psychological provision. CAPs will manage a caseload and take responsibility for proactive care delivery decisions, within their scope of practice.

Main duties of the job

• To support the wider NHS agenda to develop and expand access to psychological provision.
• Working within the identified clinical area, within an appropriate scope of practice in a semiautonomous manner to utilise psychological knowledge, research and theory to reduce psychological distress and to enhance psychological wellbeing of service users and carers.
• Ensuring the continuing development of a person centred, recovery focused model of care, enhancing service user and carer involvement.
• Management of a defined client caseload delivering interventions in accordance with NICE guidance and considering the needs of the carer/family.

Job responsibilities

• To work as a semi-autonomous psychological practitioner under the direct supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist.
• To provide specialist psychological services to adults who present with complex mental health difficulties and whose needs can be met through the group interventions and one to one assessment, formulation and brief intervention.
• To work as a member of the Shropshire PCN / Primary Care Psychology Team based in South West Shropshire to provide effective evidence‑based care in line with National and local guidelines.
• To manage a caseload and be responsible for proactive care delivery decisions within the scope of practice and under the supervision of an experienced and HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist.
• To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care.

Person Specification

• Completion of accredited Clinical Associate in Psychology (ADULT) apprenticeship MSc.
• Experieince of working as a CAP in Adult MH
• Evidence of training/CPD to develop knowledge and theory relevant to work in the specialism.
• Experience of working with MDT
• Experience of group interventions
• Significant experience in assessment and formulation
