Clinical Application Manager

Full-time | 37.5 hours per week | Monday–Friday

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Clinical Application Manager to join our Group IT function. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the technology that underpins clinical excellence across a large, complex, and fast-moving healthcare organisation.

What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years’ experience supporting and managing clinically facing IT applications within large‑scale organisations (approx. £250M+ revenue, 5,000+ users, 20+ sites).
  • 3+ years’ team leadership experience, including managing complex workloads and delivering large‑scale projects.
  • A strong background in service delivery, including managing relationships with third‑party suppliers.
  • Up‑to‑date understanding of data protection, information security, and information governance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer‑focused skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across clinicians, operational teams, IT colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving ability, including data analysis and reporting using established tools.
  • The ability to translate technical information into clear, accessible language for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Experience working in a private healthcare clinical or IT environment.
  • ITIL certification (required).
  • Experience in designing and delivering application training.
  • High levels of self‑motivation, organisation, and initiative, with a proactive approach to personal development and continuous learning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, service desk management systems, and analytical tools — including SQL scripting.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of clinical application specialists, providing direction, support, and ongoing professional development.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative team environment that champions knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of strategies that enhance, evolve, or replace clinical applications – driving efficiency, supporting high‑quality patient care, and enabling operational innovation.
  • Manage the ongoing maintenance and optimisation of clinical applications, ensuring performance, stability, security, and alignment with evolving organisational needs.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve robust testing methodologies to ensure consistent, high‑quality testing of upgrades, new functionality, and new systems – working closely with suppliers and internal teams to identify and resolve issues.
