Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a fixed-term Client Researcher to support the Targeted Support Service. The role involves contacting young people aged 18 to 21, gathering information, and signposting where needed to employment, education, or training options.
You will conduct extensive telephone work and data input, liaising with training providers, schools and colleges. There is a home/office split; some evening work may be required.
We are looking to appoint a fixed term Client Researcher for 37 hours per week. This role is currently offered until 31/3/27, with a possibility of extension to 31/3/28 (awaiting funding decision).
Working as part of the Client Researcher team within the Targeted Support Service, you will predominately track and contact young people aged 18 to 21 to establish their current situation and where necessary offer signposting to help them with their plans to move into employment, education or training.

You will use a variety of methods to contact young people directly, in addition to building relationships with training providers, schools and colleges to gather information. The role will involve lots of telephone work and data inputting, which will get repetitive at times, but this is a vital part of the tracking process. You will provide feedback to colleagues to identify situations when intervention from the Targeted Support practitioners may be necessary and assist in the input and collation of data for Management Information and production of reports.
A clear and confident telephone manner is absolutely essential. You will need good communication skills, a methodical and organised approach to work and deadlines, along with excellent IT skills. Experience of using databases would be desirable. A flexible approach to working hours is necessary, as some evening work will be required.
The postholder would be required to work from home and from a Cambridgeshire County Council office (location can be discussed at interview).
