Job description

The BD & marketing team is responsible for practice group and sector BD, client development, strategic bids, event management, brand and online marketing, and communications and PR. The client development team are relationship management specialists who work closely with lawyers to develop and service a group of our most important clients. The Client Relationship Manager will report into the Head of Client Development and will work closely with Relationship Partners and core teams, the client development and wider international BD teams, as well as various business services teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • The management and development of a number of key client relationships
  • Providing hands‑on best practice guidance to partners, associates and business development teams
  • Involvement and delivery of strategic projects that support our client programmes
Account planning and management
  • Work with the Client Relationship Partners (CRP) and client team to create and execute a strong account strategy that drives client satisfaction, engagement and revenue growth
  • Take a lead role, with the CRP, to drive account and relationship activity
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the client, its strategic objectives and our relationship and feed this intelligence back into client planning and opportunities for follow up
  • Monitor and share performance against financial and non‑financial KPIs
Client service
  • Identify and communicate panel or service commitments and oversee any required delivery with the CRP
  • Support the client team in preparing for and following up from relationship meetings, attending where appropriate
  • Ensure our client listening protocols are followed and look for opportunities to seek client feedback
Opportunity management
  • Provide insights into client opportunities through market and client analysis and match those requirements to our offerings
  • Develop own relationships with client contacts including with legal team, panel managers and procurement
  • Work with lead partners on key accounts to qualify RFPs, manage an effective bid process (working with our strategic bids manager when appropriate) and conduct post‑bid follow up
Project management
  • Work with the Head of Client Development and wider client development team to design and deliver strategic client projects

You will be of graduate calibre and have proven business development experience in a professional services environment. You will have experience of developing client relationships and managing client/business development projects. You would ideally have had direct exposure to clients as part of a client development role - although this is not essential.
