Overview

Are you organised, reliable, and keen to support our school's leadership? We're looking for a Clerk to the Governing Body - a vital role that helps keep our governance running smoothly and ensures we meet all statutory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare agendas and papers for meetings in line with legal and local authority guidance
  • Attend meetings and take accurate, confidential minutes
  • Record decisions and actions, and maintain official records
  • Advise governors on governance, legislation, and procedural matters
  • Manage governor membership records, terms of office, and DBS checks
  • Support new governors with induction and provide access to key documents
  • Ensure statutory policies and compliance documents are up to date
Hours & Pay

About 120 hours per year, term time only. Workload varies: Meeting weeks: about 7 hours (prep, meeting, minutes). Non‑meeting weeks: about 1 hour for ongoing admin. Covers 12 meetings per year (6 full governing board + 6 finance) plus preparation and admin tasks.

Salary

Pro‑rated Dorset Grade 5 SCP5-6 - £1,736 - £1,773 per year (38 Weeks Worked per Year)

Full training is provided, including termly briefings and professional development opportunities to keep you up to date with governance and legislation.
