Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a conscientious, enthusiastic, highly motivated, and organised individual to join the Urology Department at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The Urology Department is recruiting a full‑time Typist/Admin Assistant to support our secretarial pods and medical/nursing teams.
Responsibilities
- Type patient letters relating to clinics accurately and prioritise workload.
- Locate, request and track hospital notes to the department and Health Records Library and file results and correspondence appropriately.
- Communicate electronically with secretaries regarding actions to be outcomed from typing to ensure 18‑week targets are met.
- Update RTT in accordance with Trust guidelines and assist the Administration and Clerical team with data management utilising PAS and other departmental patient databases.
- Work in line with department guidelines and policies, and offer suggestions for improvements to procedures/policies to support the continual development of the service.
- Maintain ‘Administration Procedures’ for departmental practices, to ensure colleagues can cover workload in absence and offer suggestion at regular team meeting for improvements in working practices.
- Support patients from behind the scenes, and may occasionally support on reception if staffing support is required.
Qualifications
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Medical administration training and/or experience.
- Typing speed and accuracy.
- Experience supporting a busy, collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
