Job description
Job Summary

The successful applicant should be able to provide efficient, effective and comprehensive clerical support to the Imaging Department, in a general office setting, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and preferably with knowledge of CRIS. To ensure that all patient information is correct and to deal with day to day enquiries from both the general public and other hospital departments in a courteous, efficient and timely manner.

The post is for 37.5 hours/week which include evening and weekend work on a rota basis.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise, and prioritise own workload whilst accepting direction and delegation from the Administration Manager.
  • Provide and receive routine information as assigned to support colleagues, clinicians, patients and other departments and clients.
  • Request necessary items, information or services from other departments.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to all external and internal telephone queries.
  • Provide clerical support as assigned.
  • Communicate appointments or examination information to patients or carers.
  • Exercise judgment to record and report all relevant information as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all organisational policies relating to the job.
  • Process imaging referrals as assigned.
  • Handle, maintain and track files and/or patient records accurately, confidentially, and sensitively according to approved organisation and governance standards.
  • Process detail relating to patients and staff promptly and in an organised and accurate manner.
  • Receive and handle telephone calls according to established policies of professional telephone etiquette.
  • Receive, welcome and direct visitors as they arrive in the department.
Qualifications
  • Good standard level of education (GCSE or equivalent) in four subjects, one of which must be English.
Desirable Qualifications
  • NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Administration or Customer Service, or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Previous experience of working within an office environment.
  • Good communication skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Experience of working in a busy Radiology department.
Knowledge
  • Good IT knowledge.
