Job summary

Hele's School, within Westcountry Schools Trust, is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to lead the daily work of its cleaning team after school hours during term time. You will manage a small team, ensure standards are met, re-adjust schedules for events, cover absences, and mentor new staff while upholding high cleanliness standards and safeguarding policies.

The post covers keeping the premises to set cleaning standards, cleaning areas directly when staff are absent, and training new cleaners. It is a term-time, part-hours role of 16.5 hours a week in the late afternoon, with schedules adjusted around after-school events. Enhanced DBS, satisfactory references and proof of qualifications are required, and visa sponsorship is not available.

What the job involves

• Lead and manage a team of cleaners daily
• Ensure the premises are cleaned to specified standards and to the satisfaction of the Premises and Operations manager
• Re-adjust work schedules around after-school events
• Cover planned staff absence, including cleaning areas when staff are off
• Demonstrate cleaning methods and mentor new staff
• Act as an ambassador for high standards of cleanliness
• Solve problems and conflicts effectively so the school runs smoothly
• Support the effective operation of the trust and uphold its vision and values
