Job objectives and responsibilities
The Senior Cleaning Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of exceptional housekeeping and cleanliness standards across Bicester Village. This role acts as the operational lead in the absence of the Housekeeping & Waste Manager and supports the day-to-day coordination of cleaning teams, quality assurance, and service delivery. The postholder will also contribute to training, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring a seamless guest experience and operational excellence.
Main duties
- Lead and supervise daily cleaning operations across guest-facing and back-of-house areas, ensuring standards are consistently met or exceeded.
- Support the Housekeeping & Waste Manager in delivering contractual KPIs and service level agreements.
- Coordinate and manage rotas, shift cover, and deployment of cleaning operatives to ensure optimal coverage.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and documented.
- Act as the first point of contact for escalated cleaning issues and guest complaints, resolving promptly and professionally.
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members, ensuring alignment with Mitie and Bicester Village standards.
- Monitor and manage cleaning stock levels, PPE, and equipment, ensuring availability and correct usage.
- Support the implementation of new cleaning schemes and sustainability initiatives in line with site goals.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and payroll-related data.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operational delivery.
- Promote and enforce health and safety compliance, including COSHH, manual handling, and safe working practices.
- Participate in team briefings, toolbox talks, and contribute to continuous improvement discussions.
- Provide operational leadership in the absence of the Housekeeping & Waste Manager, including decision-making and team coordination.
- Support with reporting, data collection, and performance tracking as required.
Person Specification
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a cleaning supervisory or senior operative role.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate operations in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a guest-focused mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- High attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
- Flexible and reliable with the ability to work across a 7-day rota.
- Experience in conducting audits, managing rotas, and supporting training delivery.
- Positive, proactive, and professional attitude with a strong sense of accountability.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and cleaning compliance standards.
Health and Safety responsibilities
- Ensure all cleaning activities are carried out in accordance with Mitie's health and safety policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance within the team.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate use of PPE and equipment.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly and accurately.
- Participate in safety briefings and training sessions.
- Support the Housekeeping & Waste Manager in maintaining a safe working environment for all staff and guests.
