Job summary

ABM UK is seeking a Cleaning Operative for a pro-rota, part-time post in Bishop’s Stortford. You’ll join a busy site team delivering high standards of cleanliness across shopping centre facilities, including washrooms and welfare areas.

The role is physically active and requires reliability, good English communication, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will receive full training on cleaning methods and equipment, PPE is provided, and you’ll be part of ABM’s

Qualifications

• Basic health and safety knowledge and willingness to learn.
• Experience with cleaning methods preferred.
• Good English communication.

Responsibilities

• Work in a shopping centre janitorial and waste removal team, carrying out duties effectively and efficiently.
• Provide a high standard janitorial service internally and externally (washrooms, welfare areas, main shopping mall).
• Handle waste on site via approved streams and prepare for transportation.
• Operate walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers; keep equipment clean and safe.
• Respond to spillages and callouts from the client site team.
• Communicate effectively with the team and line manager.
• Wear PPE and comply with Health & Safety policies.

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

ABM Facility Services UK are looking to recruit Cleaning Operative’s on a full-time permanent basis for a high- profile client. The successful candidate will need to display the ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding, fast paced environment that provides janitorial and cleaning services for the client. Our teams consist of ambitious and motivated individuals who contribute to making a fun and friendly working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Working within our great janitorial and waste removal team in ashopping centre, carrying out duties effectively and efficiently.

• Duties will include providing a high janitorial service both internally and externallyandwelfare areas,such as:washrooms,management suite, back of houseand main shopping mall.

• Duties will also include the handling of waste generated on site via the approved waste streams and ensuring that this is ready for transportation.

• The use of both walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers, along with other cleaning equipment. Ensuring that all equipment is kept clean, wellmaintainedand in a safe working order.

• Being responsive to any spillages and callouts from the clients on site team.

• Communicate effectively with your team and line manager – we all work together.

• Wear protective clothing (PPE) andcomply withHealth & Safety legislation and policies.

• Following group and company policies and procedures

• Report anyapparentdeficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.

• The post holder will need to be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team andexhibitgreat communicationskills and be able to confidently communicate with their team members and those of the client.

• The successful candidate willbe requiredto undergo full training on all cleaning methods and cleaning equipment.

• Full training will be provided

Requirements

• Basic level and knowledge of health and safety requirements or a willingness to learn.

• Knowledge of cleaning methods or a willingness to learn.

• High attention to detail.

• An ability to work under pressure.

• Able to work both independently and as part of a team, be able to proactively find tasksand work to routine schedules.

• An ability to quickly adapt toa very busyoperational environment.

• A reliable and flexible approach to work.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• This is an active role that requires you to be physically fit.
