A leading medical research organization in the UK seeks a Cleaning and Sterilisation Technician for its Mary Lyon Centre. The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (MLC) is located in an expanding science and innovation park in Oxfordshire and is an internationally renowned centre at the forefront of genetics research. As the hub of the new National Mouse Genetics Network, the specialist facilities and capabilities of the MLC support a number of distinct research clusters spread across the UK to accelerate our understanding of human disease.
We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic person to join our cleaning and sterilisation team. This team plays a key role in upholding the standards of cleanliness in the Mary Lyon Centre, as well as providing sterile equipment for the housing of genetically altered mice, which are needed for medical research.
Previous experience in sterilisation is desirable; however, full training will be given and applicants will have the opportunity to apply for further qualifications, including an NVQ and forklift truck licence.
The overall purpose of this role is to maintain the unit to the required standards of cleanliness and to process, prepare and deliver sterilised equipment and consumables, necessary for laboratories and animal holding areas (mice).
