Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Specialist Provision
In this role, you will teach a thematic curriculum to Key Stage 3 pupils and work within a specialist SEMH setting. Grounded in nurture principles and the philosophy of "unconditional positive regard," you will build safe, supportive educational environments that break down barriers to learning and support pupils to succeed.
Teaching & Curriculum: Teach Key Stage 3 pupils via a thematic curriculum, develop tailored learning programmes within your specialist area and support qualifications up to GCSE level where applicable.
Assessment & Support: Work alongside the SENCO to baseline assess pupils and create bespoke Individual Learning Plans and Pupil Profiles to support learning and behaviour.
Pastoral & Nurture: Act as a tutor for an assigned cohort and provide a safe, secure, nurture-based learning environment.
Reintegration: Support pupil transitions, including reintegration to and from mainstream settings.
Teamwork & Supervision: Supervise support staff within the setting and collaborate closely with care teams, multi-disciplinary professionals and Senior Leadership.
Experience: Proven experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing learning and behaviour management programmes for young people with specific support needs.
Knowledge: Sound understanding of current approaches to supporting young people at risk of social exclusion, as well as the barriers faced by pupils with SEN/SEMH or those at risk of offending.
Key Skills & Personal Qualities: Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively as part of a team; and high levels of versatility, creativity, and resilience.
