Salary: Main Pay Scale 1-6 (£34,398 - £46,839) SEN 1-2 Allowance (£2,787 - £5,497) and UPS where applicable

Location: Arbour Vale School, Farnham Road, SL2 3AE / Arbour Vale Centre, Derwent Drive, Slough, Berkshire, SL1 6HW

Arbour Vale School is a large and inclusive special school in Slough, supporting pupils aged 2 to 19 with a wide range of educational needs. It is one of the largest special schools in the country, meeting the needs of children and young people with moderate learning difficulties, severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning needs, and autism.

The school is purpose built with specialist facilities including a dedicated nursery and post‑16 base, soft‑play area, hydrotherapy pool, multi‑sensory room, a newly refurbished library, well‑equipped IT suite, dedicated music room and large sports hall. Arbour Vale School is a vibrant and welcoming community and offers many opportunities for professionals who want a rewarding career enabling young people to achieve their full potential irrespective of their personal learning needs.

Slough Borough Council has recognised the need for additional school places, and we are delighted to be working in partnership with the Council on an exciting new development at our satellite centre in Slough. This phased expansion will create 80 additional places over two years, increasing Arbour Vale School’s total capacity to 455 pupils across two sites. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing and inclusive school community, with roles available at the main school site and the satellite site, as we continue to provide high‑quality, personalised education for children and young people with a wide range of special educational needs.

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed, and innovative Class Teachers to join our team. You will support pupils with a wide range of educational needs, helping them to reach their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a developing provision, demonstrate best practice, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and aspirational environment for both pupils and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of pupils, ensuring progress and equality of opportunity.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils, treating them with dignity and maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, and external professionals to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils at all times, following school policies and statutory guidance.
  • Contribute to the ethos, vision, and growth of the Satellite Centre, supporting the development of a welcoming, inclusive, and aspirational environment.
Key Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching at relevant key stages.
  • Knowledge and understanding of strategies to meet the individual needs of pupils, including differentiation, behaviour management, and personalised learning approaches.
  • Awareness of statutory requirements regarding Safeguarding, Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, and Health & Safety.
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to support pupil development.
  • Commitment to modelling best practice, supporting colleagues, and contributing positively to a collaborative, inclusive, and aspirational school environment.
