Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for a permanent, full-time role at Burton Latimer, supporting the Weetabix contract with a 24/7 operation.

You will deliver palletised goods to regional distribution centres across the UK, adhere to safety and tachograph rules, and work 3on3off/4on4off with some nights. The role includes a weekly pay rate of £15.06 per hour plus overtime.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence.
• Minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions.
• Current valid DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Good understanding of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres in the UK.
• Support occasional driver tipping or multi-drop deliveries as required.
• Report delays or issues to the Transport team at shift start.
• Complete paperwork and ensure PODs are signed and returned.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and working time directive.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Take responsibility for unit and trailer, including temperature checks.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour and customer service.

Job Description

Were looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Great Bear team in Burton Latimer, supporting deliveries for key customers on our Weetabix contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent, full-time driving role with a 24/7 operation, delivering palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres nationwide.

Shift patterns:3on3off/4on4off rotating AM/PM, including nights, contracted to between 33 & 44 hours per week, various start/finish times.

Salary:£15.06 per hour, overtime rate paid x1.3 & £1 for 4 on 4 off & an additional £1.30 per hour if worked nights, paid weekly

What youll be doing

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres across the UK using Curtain sided vehicles, with most deliveries completed as backdoor tips.
• Support occasional driver tipping or multi-drop deliveries depending on customer demand.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and communicate any delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies promptly.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company rules and procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and adhere to tachograph rules and regulations.
• Complete daily vehicle checks in line with company procedure and report defects correctly.
• Take responsibility for the unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

Qualifications

What were looking for

• Valid C+E Licence.

• No more than 6 points on your licence and no DD or DR code convictions.
• Current valid DCPC and Tachograph cards.
• Good understanding of Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
• Ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach.
