Job summary

A transportation company is seeking a Class 1 HGV Driver to operate articulated lorries for delivering and collecting materials across the UK. Responsibilities include safely navigating routes, managing load security, and performing daily vehicle checks. Candidates must possess a valid Class 1 (C+E) licence along with a Driver CPC and digital tachograph card. Flexibility to work away from home during the week is required, and experience in heavy materials delivery is preferred.

Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: Class 1 HGV Driver- Artic

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

Location: Climpy

Salary: £16.50 per hour

Hours: 45 hours Monday to Friday

Overtime: Monday-Saturday 1.5x and Sunday 2x

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate an articulated lorry (Class 1) to deliver and collect trackway/matting to and from various customer sites across the UK.
  • Load, secure, and unload track mats using appropriate lifting or securing equipment, following all safety protocols.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues in line with company procedures.
  • Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules while complying with driving hours and rest period regulations.
  • Liaise professionally withsitemanagers and logistics teams to ensure accurate deliveries and collections.
  • Maintain accurate delivery notes, manifests, and timesheets.
  • Tramping required-ensuring proper rest, cleanliness, and security of vehicle and load.
Requirements / Skills
  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, Driver CPC, and digital tachograph card.
  • Experience with trackway/matting delivery or similar heavy plant/construction materials (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of load security and site safety requirements.
  • Flexibility to work away from home during the week (tramping).
