Job summary

CVL:LDN is seeking an experienced Civils Supervisor to oversee utility projects across the South East. You will manage site teams, ensure safe digging practices, and coordinate with subcontractors to meet programme requirements.

Applicants should hold NRSWA Supervisor and SSSTS/SMSTS, with a strong grasp of HSG47 and underground service avoidance, and be adept at maintaining RAMS and safe systems of work on busy sites.

Qualifications

• Proven Civils Supervisor experience in utilities sector.
• Qualified with NRSWA Supervisor and SSSTS/SMSTS.
• Good RAMS, health and safety procedures knowledge.
• Strong understanding of underground service avoidance and excavation safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day civils on utility projects, delivering works safely and on schedule.
• Enforce safe digging practices and HSG47 compliance on site.
• Detect underground utilities using CAT & Genny before/during excavation.
• Ensure risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work are followed.
• Monitor health, safety, environmental and quality requirements on site.
• Coordinate operatives and subcontractors to maintain productivity and quality.
• Identify underground service conflicts and implement precautions before excavations.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Maintain accurate site records and project documentation.

Our client is looking to strengthen their site management team with an experienced Civils Supervisor to oversee utility projects across the South East.

Civils Supervisor Key Essentials:

• Supervising day-to-day civils on utility projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme requirements
• Ensuring all excavations comply with HSG47 - Avoiding Danger from Underground Services, including the implementation of safe digging practices
• Ensuring that the CAT & Genny are confidently used to detect and locate underground utilities before and during excavation works
• Ensuring site teams follow approved risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Monitoring site activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Coordinating operatives and subcontractors to maintain productivity and ensure works are completed to the required standards
• Identifying underground service conflicts and ensuring appropriate precautions are implemented before excavation commences
• Carrying out site inspections, toolbox talks and safety briefings to maintain high standards of site safety
• Monitoring progress against programme, reporting issues and escalating operational challenges where required
• Maintaining accurate site records and ensuring all relevant project documentation is completed

Civils Supervisor Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Civils Supervisor within the utilities sector
• Qualified with NRSWA Supervisor and SSSTS / SMSTS
• Good working knowledge of HSG47 and safe digging practices, with practical experience using CAT & Genny
• Strong understanding of underground service avoidance and excavation safety
• Experience supervising site teams and subcontractors on utility projects
• Good knowledge of RAMS, health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with deep excavations and temporary works would be a distinct advantage (Not essential)
