Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Civils Estimator for our client in the United Utilities region. The role focuses on preparing detailed cost estimates for heavy civil water projects in a permanent capacity.

You will collaborate with project managers and engineers, interpret drawings, and identify risks and cost-saving opportunities to ensure competitive quotations and robust budgeting.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering estimating for heavy civils projects.
• Degree or professional qualification in civil engineering or related field.
• Water sector experience is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Ability to interpret complex project documentation and drawings.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil engineering projects in the water sector.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to understand project specs.
• Analyse drawings and documentation to prepare quotations.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and risks.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
• Evaluate and negotiate contract terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil engineering projects within the water sector
• Collaborating with project managers and engineers to understand project specifications and requirements
• Analysing project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare quotations
• Identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and risks
• Developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients
• Evaluating and negotiating contract terms and conditions
• Monitoring and reviewing project costs to ensure adherence to budgets and estimates
• Providing regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of estimates and project costs

Job Requirements:
