Qualifications

• Experience in recruitment and onboarding to grow teams.

We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Discipline Lead for our growing team. The team is based in Birmingham and works in a fully integrated manner with a wider team to deliver key projects to support the electricity sector (HV substations, HV cables, transmission & distribution, overhead lines, HVDC). The sector is undergoing unprecedented growth at the moment and a growth mindset is critical for the group lead role.

Your role

Are you a civil/ structural technical leader in the substation sector with a growth mindset and a passion for people? Do you like to support and inspire your team? Do you thrive on juggling multiple priorities? If yes, could you be our discipline lead?

In this role you will:

• Focus on growth (recruitment, onboarding, retention) to enable the team to sustainably grow to match the market demand.
• Provide the group with a clear identity, provide inspiration and drive a positive inclusive, culture. Ensure a high level of communication, engagement and pastoral care throughout the team.
• Ensure that staff are technically equipped to deliver high quality work to clients (through training, development and culture).
• Drive efficient resourcing to maintain billability in line with the Practice budget.
• The candidate will also be expected to be a leader in the civil engineering design sector and will be expected to be billable in addition to the leadership activities.

About you

In addition to having strong communication and leadership skills, you will have experience in and be able to demonstrate a selection of the following attributes:

• Leading technical aspects of civil / structural engineering projects. This may be over a range of design phases, from optioneering through to detailed design.
• Supervising, developing and mentoring others.
• Experience in line management and team leadership
• Drive for growth and experience in recruitment and onboarding.
• Master's degree (MEng/MSc) qualified Civil or Structural Engineer.
• Chartered Engineer and a Member of ICE or IStructE is desirable.
• Experience of working in the electricity supply industry, e.g. HV substations, HV cables, transmission & distribution, overhead lines, HVDC is desirable but not mandatory.
