Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is looking for a Civil Structural Engineer for a contract role based in Warrington, Glasgow, or Newcastle. The ideal candidate will support the production of Structural Design Method Statements and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards. This hybrid position allows for remote work 2-3 days per week and offers an initial 2-month contract with potential for extension.

Qualifications

  • MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered status or working towards it with a relevant professional body.
  • Knowledge/experience of Eurocodes and familiarity with French ETC-C code is desirable.
  • Experience in UK Nuclear Licensing and Generic Design Assessment is desirable.

  • Contribute to technical investigations and produce technical reports.

Overview

New Job Opportunity - Civil Structural Engineer - based in Warrington, Glasgow or Newcastle. Inside IR35 contract.

Hybrid: 2 or 3 days can be worked from home each week. Contract Length: initially 2 months, with potential move to a new project at the start of next year.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare safety case references such as Structural Design Method Statements (SDMS) and Design Substantiation Reports (DSR).
  • Assist in the preparation of design safety documentation and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards.
  • Contribute to problem-solving, technical investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports.
  • Build and maintain relationships with peers, partners and clients.
Qualifications
  • MEng, MSc, BEng or BSc (or equivalent) in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered status or working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with a relevant professional body.
  • Awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures, components and applicable design/assessment guidelines (or related principles from other highly regulated industries).
  • Knowledge/experience of Eurocodes; familiarity with French ETC-C code is desirable.
  • Experience using finite element modelling software with validation/verification of outputs.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and good practice.
  • UK Nuclear Licensing and Generic Design Assessment experience is desirable.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, communicate progress, and collaborate with stakeholders; committed to continuous professional development.
