Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Project Engineer with experience in the rail sector to review design and construction activities. The ideal candidate will have a Chartered Engineer status and relevant engineering degree, along with at least 5 years of experience. This position offers a competitive rate of £44 per hour and a hybrid working arrangement with 3 days in the office and 2 at home.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience working client-side for Network Rail.
  • In date PTS and Track Safety competence.

Overview

Position: Project Engineer - Civils

Rate: £44 per hour Inside IR35

Location: York

Duration: 6 months+

Start date: ASAP

Working Arrangements: 3 days in Office 2 days Home

Responsibilities
  • Undertake reviews of design and construction activities, ensuring compliance to relevant standards and legislation.
  • Conduct on-site engineering verifications (where required and directed by the Senior Asset Protection Engineer).
  • Lead the discipline engineering consultation between the project team, client/customer designer/contractor, and the applicable Route Engineers (Discipline) throughout the design development stages and construction.
  • Respond via NR/L2/RSE/02009/F0044 DRN process with acceptance or rejection of submissions within 20 working days of receipt. Where a submission fails/rejected (Cat0/3) the areas identified are clearly communicated to the client/designer. To be re-reviewed when design submission is returned with DRN closed out.
  • Input/guidance into NR/L2/CIV/191/05 Managing the risk from Mining in design and construction.
  • Provide attendance at relevant project meetings and workshops, including progress meetings, CRE meetings, IDC/IDRs.
  • Technical input at enquiry/initial meetings with customer when specialist discipline requirement is required.
  • Review and provide comments of initial design proposals at initial meetings with the customer/client.
Qualifications
  • Shall preferably be a Chartered Engineer (preferably MICE), and have a relevant engineering degree (BSc/BEng or equivalent) with minimum 5 years general relevant experience.
  • Worked Client side for Network Rail within the rail sector.
  • In date PTS and Track Safety competence
