Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to wastewater and surface water management projects, delivering technical reports, drawings and specifications across multidisciplinary teams in the UK.

You will work on sustainability-focused water management strategies, applying digital tools to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact within our networks and development projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Working toward Chartership with ICE or CIWEM within 2 years.
• Experience in design delivery including multidisciplinary design.
• Familiarity with current UK design standards and practices.
• Experience with digital analysis packages following UK guidance.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to wastewater and surface water management projects, including technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and industry leaders on CSO reduction initiatives.
• Shape holistic water management strategies focused on sustainability and climate resilience.

Your role

• Contribute to a variety of wastewater and surface water management projects, including preparing or managing the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and recognized industry leaders on initiatives to reduce Combined Sewer Overflow spills while supporting our wider business across Cities & Development and Transportation markets.
• Shape holistic water management strategies that transcend traditional redline boundaries, with a focus on sustainability, climate resilience, and protecting our communities.
• Leverage digital tools and data to disrupt the status quo, driving innovation and efficiency across the water and infrastructure sectors.

About You

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Working toward Chartership with ICE or CIWEM, aiming to achieve this within the next two years.
• Experience in design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.
• Familiarity with current UK design standards and working practices.
• Experience designing within appropriate digital analysis packages following local and national guidance (e.g., MicroDrainage, InfoWorks, Civil 3D, MapInfo).
• An understanding of the UK water industry, environment and sustainability, and a desire to apply your skills to the challenges the environment faces.
