Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK seeks a Civil Engineering Consultant to provide design and analysis support for energy projects from concept to completion. Responsibilities span basic to site design modification, coordinating with civil and multidisciplinary teams on technical deliverables.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree, experience with Eurocodes and CDM 2015, and are open to relocation near Bristol.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Eurocodes knowledge and CDM 2015 awareness.
  • Chartership status or ongoing process will be highly considered.
  • Experience in high-hazard industries (Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Bridge).
  • Local Bristol area or willingness to relocate; no travel expense coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Review, coordinate, and accept civil/structural design deliverables within scope.
  • Produce building-specific documentation, including handover reports and hypothesis notes.
  • Manage and follow up building-specific technical open points as the primary interface for the civil designer.
  • Support the civil building lead in resolving complex or cross-cutting technical issues.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to support design development and ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • Lead and track resolution of building-specific technical topics throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and review design documentation, including calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to design reviews, ensuring clear communication of design changes.

The Position:

The Civil Engineering Consultant is responsible for carrying out design and analysis engineering support for Energy projects from conception to completion. They are involved in different phases of the projects: from basic design to site design modification.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Civil Engineer will include:

  • Review, coordinate, and accept civil/structural design deliverables within scope.
  • Produce building‑specific documentation, including handover reports and hypothesis notes.
  • Manage and follow up building‑specific technical open points as the primary interface for the civil designer.
  • Support the civil building lead in resolving complex or cross‑cutting technical issues.

Preferred Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Structural analysis software such as Tekla or STAAD Pro.
  • 3D viewer software such as Navisworks and/or PDMS.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering design codes, particularly Eurocodes and CDM 2015 knowledge.
  • Chartership status or actively undergoing the process of attaining Chartership through a recognised international body will be highly considered when assessing candidates.
  • Projects in high-hazard industries including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Energy, Heavy process Industry or Bridge
  • Reside locally to Bristol or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
