Job description

"Are you ready to join a team of talented engineers and shape the future of the Nuclear Industry?" Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Civil Engineer means contributing to a diverse and growing portfolio of both international and UK-based projects. This role offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the project lifecycle, from client consultancy support through to complete turn-key solutions. As part of our strong multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will provide Civil Engineering input across our portfolio of nuclear projects, supporting a variety of public and private sector clients both in the UK and overseas. You will be involved in delivering practical and effective design solutions within regulated and quality-assured environments, ensuring work is completed in line with AECOM's standards for quality, safety, and environmental care. We are looking for individuals who can apply their technical skills both independently and collaboratively to deliver successful project outcomes for our clients. Experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system, preferably within the nuclear industry, is highly desirable, along with strong design judgement and a practical approach to problem-solving. This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team, with an expanding pipeline of high-profile and technically challenging projects across the UK and internationally.

Here's what you'll do:
  • Deliver Nuclear design work on projects for a range of public and private sector clients within the UK and overseas.
  • Prepare detailed technical civil engineering designs.
  • Work with integrated multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-profile projects.
  • Support the delivery of projects to meet programme, quality, and client expectations.
  • Assist and mentor graduate team members to promote their technical and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Qualified with a Bachelor's Honours Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Working towards Chartered Engineer status (MICE) or equivalent professional membership is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in one or more specialist areas relevant to Civil Engineering.
  • Ability to prepare civil engineering design work across a variety of project scopes with appropriate supervision and guidance where required.
  • Good understanding of civil engineering plant, systems, and equipment relevant to design delivery.
  • Knowledge of applicable design guides, standards, regulations, processes, and procedures relevant to Civil Engineering.
  • Competent in specifying civil engineering work and interpreting and applying technical information and results.
  • Engineering experience demonstrating successful project delivery within multi-disciplinary teams, contributing to the implementation and delivery of engineering work packages.
  • Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques, and related methods, including IT systems and engineering software.
  • Ability to support and mentor Graduate Engineers and Technicians as part of the wider design team.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles and the ability to apply them effectively in project delivery.

You will also be self-motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
