Overview

Civil Engineer

Bristol

2 to 4 years experience

Ready to trade in your Graduate title for an Engineer role with real project ownership? If you are a talented Civil Engineer with 2 to 4 years of UK consultancy experience, this is your chance to step up, take the technical lead, and accelerate your path to Chartership (ICE/IStructE). Join a dynamic and rapidly growing team in Bristol, a key city in the South West engineering market.

The Opportunity: Accelerated Growth in Bristol

A highly respected, well-established engineering consultancy is expanding its Development Infrastructure team in Bristol and is looking for motivated engineers who are ready for increased responsibility. Reporting directly to an experienced Associate, you will gain immediate, hands-on exposure to the entire project lifecycle. This firm is known for investing heavily in its people, making it an ideal environment to consolidate your skills and secure your professional qualification.

You will be critical to the delivery of diverse UK projects, including major residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Responsibilities
  • Design Ownership: Produce detailed designs, calculations, and drawings for adoption agreements, primarily focusing on S38/S278 Highways and S104 Drainage.
  • Feasibility & Planning: Lead technical input for pre-purchase feasibility studies, including drainage and highway advice, and resolve crucial planning conditions.
  • Technical Modelling: Create and utilise 3D ground models for highly accurate volume calculations, cut and fill analysis, and vertical road profiling.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as a key technical point of contact, liaising directly with clients, Local Highway Authorities, Water Authorities, and the Environment Agency.
  • Mentorship: Support the training and development of junior team members and proactively work towards your Chartered Engineer status.
What We Need From You

We are looking for an ambitious Engineer who is technically proficient and ready for a challenging role.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Around 2 to 4 years of relevant post-graduate experience, gained within a UK consultancy.
  • Proven working experience in designing and detailing highways and drainage to adoption standards (S38, S278, S104).
  • Proficiency in hydraulic design software, specifically MicroDrainage (WinDES).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a good understanding of industry standards (SuDS, FRAs).
  • A clear, proactive commitment to achieving ICE or IStructE Chartership.
  • (Experience with AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D is beneficial, though not always essential.)
Culture, Benefits, and Your Future

This firm has cultivated a non-corporate, professional culture that prioritises genuine work-life balance and employee welfare. They are large enough to win major projects but small enough to maintain a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Reasons to Apply
  • Fast-Track Chartership: Benefit from a structured, robust, and ICE-accredited training scheme with dedicated time and one-on-one Associate mentorship.
  • Hybrid Working: Enjoy genuine flexible and hybrid working options to support a healthy work-life balance.
  • Competitive Pay: Excellent starting salary reflective of the Bristol market and your experience.
  • Career Investment: Full funding for professional institution fees and generous training budgets.

This is a fantastic opportunity to secure your Engineer title, gain project leadership in a major UK city, and rapidly achieve professional status.

We are actively scheduling interviews. Don’t miss this chance to make a significant move in your career.
