Are you a motivated and enthusiastic Civil Engineer ready to start your career on exciting projects? A leading Civil Engineering consultancy in Bristol is looking for a Civil Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across housing, commercial, and industrial developments while developing technical skills and working towards chartership.

The Role

As a Civil Engineer, you will work within a team of eight civil engineers, contributing to projects at all stages from appraisal and planning through to detailed design. You will be given responsibility for key tasks while receiving strong support from the team to help you grow and progress towards chartership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out pre‑purchase feasibility studies and resolve planning conditions, including drainage and highways considerations
  • Prepare Flood Risk Assessments with support from the in‑house flood modelling team
  • Develop planning stage SuDS and drainage strategies
  • Produce detailed drawings and calculations for adoptable highways and drainage to Building Control, NHBC, S278, S38, and S104 standards
  • Prepare 3D ground models for volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, and vertical road profiles
  • Liaise with clients and external agencies including the Environment Agency, Local Highway Authorities, and Water Companies
  • Attend site inspections, meetings, public exhibitions, planning committees, and public inquiries as required
  • Work proactively towards chartership (ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent)
About You
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
  • Around 1-2 years of relevant consultancy experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar design software
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Good understanding of civil engineering principles and industry standards
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail and enthusiasm for professional development
