Job summary

Advance Training & Recruitment Services is seeking a Civil Engineer (Hydraulics) to support major water and wastewater projects across the UK. You will contribute to hydraulic analysis, design and optimisation of treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines and drainage networks, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, develop technical expertise, and progress through structured development while benefiting

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in hydraulic or civil engineering through industry or placements.
• Understanding of hydraulic principles including fluid mechanics and drainage design.
• Experience preparing technical reports and design documentation.
• Familiarity with hydraulic modelling software is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Produce hydraulic calculations, network models and flow assessments.
• Support the design of water supply, wastewater and drainage infrastructure.
• Assist with hydraulic modelling using industry-standard software.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and design documentation.
• Support flood risk assessments and drainage design.
• Review survey information and network performance data.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, process and environmental engineers.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Assist with cost estimates, risk assessments and optioneering studies.
• Attend site visits and surveys as required.
• Ensure designs comply with standards and regulations.
• Continue developing technical knowledge through training and project experience.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer (Hydraulics) to support the delivery of major water and wastewater non‑infrastructure projects across the UK. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you’ll contribute to the hydraulic analysis, design and optimisation of water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, storage facilities, pipelines and drainage networks. You’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept design through to construction and commissioning, while developing your technical expertise within a supportive environment.

What Our Client is Looking For

• Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience within hydraulic or civil engineering through industry, placements or apprenticeships.
• Understanding of hydraulic engineering principles, including fluid mechanics, drainage design, pipe networks and flood risk.
• Experience preparing technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with hydraulic modelling software such as InfoWorks ICM, EPANET, MicroDrainage or similar would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
