Job description

Salary: GBP40000 - GBP45000 per annum

Our client is seeking a talented and ambitious Civil Engineer to join their growing aviation infrastructure team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of airport engineering, contributing to technically challenging and highly specialised projects that support aircraft operations.

The successful candidate will have either existing experience in aviation engineering or a genuine desire to transition into the sector. Our client welcomes engineers with strong transferable skills, particularly from highways or infrastructure design, who are confident in their civil engineering fundamentals and capable of quickly adapting to aviation-specific standards.

The role will involve the design of airport pavements, including aprons, taxiways and pavement alignments, alongside associated earthworks and groundworks. Engineers will work with both concrete and asphalt materials, applying innovative materials technology to create durable, high-performance pavements capable of accommodating the full range of aircraft traffic and climatic conditions. This is an opportunity to be involved in technically rigorous design work that directly influences the safety, resilience and efficiency of major aviation facilities.

The position requires proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and InfoDrainage, with experience in AviPlan considered advantageous. However, full training in AviPlan will be provided. The successful candidate will benefit from the guidance and mentorship of experienced aviation professionals, gaining exposure to relevant industry codes and standards and developing specialist expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Our client is looking for an engineer who is not only technically capable but also motivated to learn the intricacies of aviation infrastructure. Candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance and demonstrate a proactive approach to professional development.

This is a highly desirable opportunity for a civil engineer seeking to carve out a niche within a prestigious and technically demanding sector. The role offers long-term career progression, exposure to innovative design practices and the chance to contribute to infrastructure that operates at an international standard. There is a good deal of flexibility regarding hybrid working.
