Overview

This is a Mott MacDonald Bentley role, employed by Mott MacDonald. Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture between JN Bentley and Mott MacDonald, established in 1999. The role involves working across the joint venture, with both Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues. Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services, combining contracting expertise with design specialisms.

Mott MacDonald Bentley works on major water and wastewater schemes throughout all project phases from feasibility through construction. The company has a turnover exceeding £500 million and is positioned as a leader in the industry. The business has secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water lasting up to eight years, tackling projects across the DCC region including clean and wastewater treatment sites, below-ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions. You will work on projects that make a real difference to environments and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes to ensure they are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
  • Producing and reviewing technical specifications and procurement schedules, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
  • Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with knowledge of client and industry standards.
  • Challenging client specifications and presenting/defending solutions to complex problems.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
  • Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews across teams.
  • Managing interfaces and integration of the design with other disciplines and producing documentation.
  • Collaborating with engineers, specialists, clients and project teams to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Working closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design, construction and beyond.
  • Supervising and mentoring graduates and engineers to develop their knowledge and skills.
  • Engaging with clients to manage relationships and support in achieving their aims.
  • Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability and integration with existing systems.
What you’ll need (Qualifications)
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Working towards Chartered/Incorporated membership of a professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with water, wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience delivering high-quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
  • Effective communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Methodical problem-solving approach and proactive, pragmatic mindset.
  • Ability to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
