Job summary

Role Description
  • Lead (at certain levels) the design and coordination of civil engineering infrastructure for residential, commercial, or mixed‑use developments.
  • Produce and review detailed designs, including highway layouts, drainage strategies (S104, S106, S185, and S278 agreements), and earthworks.
  • Prepare technical reports including Drainage Strategies, Flood Risk Assessments, and Compliance Statements.
  • Manage project delivery from feasibility through to the construction stage.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, consultants, local authorities, and statutory bodies.
  • Attend design team and client meetings, both remotely and in person.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice (e.g. DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations).
  • Support business development efforts through technical input and client relationship building.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • HNC, HND, BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in civil engineering design, with a strong background in infrastructure delivery.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, PDS, Site 3D, MicroDrainage, Causeway FLOW, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong understanding of UK design standards and approval processes (including S38, S104, S278 applications).
  • Excellent communication, project management, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
