Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking Civil Engineers to join the Energy Unit and work on a diverse portfolio of nuclear, defence and energy infrastructure projects. The role offers collaboration with UK and European teams in a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all stages of project evolution from feasibility to detailed design and construction.
  • Coordinate with internal engineers and external clients to deliver cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
  • Design drainage, roads and earthworks for energy, defence and infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare specifications and inspection reports for civil engineering aspects in English.

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we're helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview of the role

The Energy Unit, specifically the Nuclear, Civil and Defence division are recruiting Civil Engineers to join our fast-growing team where you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of exciting projects ranging from nuclear, defence, and other energy and infrastructure projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects and support clients locally as well as the larger team based in the UK and Europe, while working in a collaborative and successful team.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Responsible for all stages of project evolution from feasibility and concept to detailed design work, planning support, through to project construction and commissioning
  • Involved in multi-disciplinary projects that requires liaising with Engineers internally within Mott MacDonald and external Clients/Stakeholders to provide cost-effect infrastructure solutions
  • Responsible for undertaking design of drainage, roads and/or earthworks on a wide variety of energy, defence and other infrastructure projects
  • Prepare, in English, specifications and minimum functional specifications for the civil engineering aspects of energy, defence and other infrastructure projects
  • Undertake civil inspections of infrastructure assets across the UK as part of asset maintenance and life extension. Prepare, in English, and provide to Client detailed inspection reports
  • Undertake site and client office visits, as per project requirements
  • Assist with project management, control and administration as appropriate to the level of experience.
Candidate specification

Requirements:

  • Working towards achieving Chartered status
