Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Career or Senior Level Civil Engineer to join the design team. You will perform civil analysis and design, lead a civil team, and coordinate with clients, project managers, and other disciplines on varied manufacturing and industrial projects.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of site development, hydrology, grading, and infrastructure design, with familiarity in Civil 3D and Bentley software. Hybrid working options and global collaboration are offered.

Qualifications

In this role you will be responsible for project delivery, design management & project management, for positioning and winning projects involving a range of services. The role will be instrumental in collaborating with commercial, project management, engineering and design technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects.

About The Role

As a Career or Senior Level Civil Engineer, you will be an integral member of the design team, counted on to perform Civil analysis and design for our projects and play a key leadership role in our civil team. Depending on the size and complexity of the project, you may be part of a larger design team supporting the Senior Civil Engineer or acting as the Civil Lead yourself. You will need effective communication and people skills as you work closely with the clients, project managers, other disciplines, and construction trade partners. As part of this team, you will develop design concepts, complete the analysis and design, and work with the Designers and Senior Civil Engineers to communicate our civil requirements on paper and, when applicable, in the intelligent Civil 3d model. It is expected that you have a strong working knowledge of civil principals in many subject areas including site hydrology, hydraulics, site grading, and site infrastructure design. You will need to have an understanding of building regulations, Irish and international standards, with track record of adhering to local jurisdictional code requirements, understand how civil design integrates with and impacts other disciplines, and understand business trends and industry issues and challenges.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Competently performs all conventional aspects of civil engineering and analysis
• Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Exercises sound engineering judgement and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and quality control
• Highly proficient in and committed to checking own work.
• Able to review and evaluate construction documents for accuracy and full compliance with client design standards, company standards, and local jurisdiction code requirements.
• Takes responsibility for managing workload, making and keeping commitments, and taking full ownership of assigned work, can lead a team, small or large
• Clearly define own scope and can forecast level of effort needed to complete that scope. Be ready to identify scope change and escalte it to project management team.
• Ask for help when needed, and delegate to other engineers when appropriate.
• Possesses excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Provides technical coaching, mentorship, and/or training to develop less experienced engineers.
• Proactive in advancing workflows, systems, and tools within the civil discipline. Embraces emerging technologies.
• Able to support work for/in other offices (possibly including Temporary Duty Assignments).

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• At least 10 years of manufacturing project experience
• Previous experience in semi-conductor, data center or general industrial facilities is an advantage.
• Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam.
• Strong working knowledge and experience in analyzing and designing all aspects of medium to large scale industrial developments including
• Site development, site master planning and site selection.
• Underground utility routing and site space planning, using AutoCAD Civil 3d
• Hydrology analysis for designing storm drain systems
• Analyzing and designing gravitational wastewater systems, using AutoCAD Civil 3d and Bentley Suites (StormCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGems, or other approved software).
• Analyzing and designing pressurized water systems and water distribution networks, using AutoCAD Civil 3d and Bentley Suites (StormCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGems, or other approved software)
• Analyzing and designing gas pipe systems.
• Performing final grading plans including cut and fill analysis and earthwork balancing, mass excavation design, and rough grading using AutoCAD Civil 3d.
• Providing erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater pollution prevention plans and support permit approval.
• Wetland mitigation.
• Support permit application process.
• Research and adhere to local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for design and construction in any given area
• Strong working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Bentley Suites (StormCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis, WaterCAD and WaterGEMS).
• Expertise in hydrology analysis tools including HEC, TR-55, and Rational Methods.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
