Job summary

Zodiac Recruitment is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our client’s team in Cardiff. The role involves contributing to the design, drainage strategies, and coordination with project teams to deliver high-quality Civil Engineering work in a dynamic environment.

Ideal candidates hold a BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering and have experience across multiple project types. The position offers a clear route to chartership, mentoring, and opportunities for career progression within a design-focused studio.

Qualifications

• BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering is required or equivalent.
• Experience across multiple project types (commercial, retail, industrial, residential, leisure).
• Familiarity with drainage and earthworks estimation and levels review.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Engineers, Technicians and staff to deliver design calculations, drawings and reports.
• Ensure drawings, reports and safety considerations meet client requirements and standards.
• Manage drawing control and documentation under the Quality Management System.
• Attend Client, Design Team and Site meetings.

Role: Civil Engineer

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £34k-£53k plus benefits

Ref: MAR675

My client is looking for a Civil Engineer to join their team based in Cardiff. Candidates will have as much of the following experience as possible;

Experience and Qualifications

• BEng/MEng degree in Civil Engineering
• Industry experience in appropriate Civil Engineering design
• Experience in variety of project types: commercial / retail / industrial / residential / leisure etc (Civils associated with Building structures type developments preferable)
• Experience in the use of MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
• Comfortable with developing drainage strategy schemes
• Comfortable with reviewing existing / proposed levels and earthworks / cut + fill estimates
• Experience using Civils 3D preferable
• Experience in the design of roads including section 56 / RCC applications
• Experience in producing drainage strategy & flood risk statement reports in support of planning
• Experience dealing with SEPA
• Commercial awareness / Experience in working with clients directly preferable
• Open to gaining structural engineering design experience (with support / training)
• Friendly approach, keen to learn and also mentor others
• Proactive and keen to progress their career
• Would fit in with company ethos / culture

Role & Responsibilities

• Working with / supporting Project Engineers, Assistant/Graduate Engineers Technicians and Technical staff.
• Ensuring that the preparation of all design calculations, detail drawings, specifications, reports and health and safety aspects are in accordance with Client requirements and National Standards.
• Control, issue and updating of all drawings and documentation in accordance with the Quality Management System.
• Monitoring the activities of Technicians and Drafting staff.
• Attendance of all relevant Client, Design Team and Site meetings.
