Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfoDrainage
  • Strong communication and client engagement skills

The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.

Overview Of The Role

We are seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Buildings Unit. Our team delivers a diverse portfolio of building and infrastructure projects, across the UK and Europe, working across sectors including health, defence, major venues, and commercial developments.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally, contributing to both project delivery and broader team objectives.

This is a varied role, focussed on technical delivery but including opportunities to support on project management and other tasks. It offers excellent opportunities for professional development and progression, including support towards achieving Chartered status.

  • Support the planning, design, and delivery of building-related civil engineering works, including site development, drainage (including SuDS), earthworks, utilities and external works including car parks and access roads
  • Apply and promote health and safety policies and procedures in all aspects of work
  • Support delivery of projects in line with quality, programme, and budget requirements
  • Support on project management tasks with guidance from senior team members
  • Provide input to the preparation of proposals and contribute to business development activities where appropriate, with support
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels, supporting a positive and inclusive team environment
Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Progressing towards professional qualification (e.g. Chartered or Incorporated Engineer), with a desire to continue developing technical and project management skills
  • Experience in design of building-related civil engineering projects, including site development, drainage, utilities, and external works including car parks and access roads
  • Experience supporting project delivery, including assisting with the planning and monitoring of programmes, budgets, and resources
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams, with an understanding of relevant standards, local authority requirements, and good engineering practice
  • Proficiency in one or more design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and InfoDrainage
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Willingness to contribute to client engagement and business development activities, including supporting the preparation of fee proposals.
