Brownlee Cale are working with a leading design and engineering consultancy on the AMP 8 Framework, supporting both infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects across the region.

They are now looking to recruit a Civil Design Engineer with experience in the UK Water and Utilities sector to join their integrated design team in Yorkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to take ownership of design packages, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and progress their career within a long-term framework environment.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver civil and drainage design for water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
  • Prepare design solutions, technical drawings, reports, specifications, calculations, and cost estimates across all project stages.
  • Coordinate and check design outputs from peers and junior engineers to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to maintain design integrity and project coordination.
  • Attend client and site meetings, contributing to technical discussions and design reviews.
  • Support commercial management, planning, and programme delivery.
  • Maintain strong communication with senior managers, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, CDM, ISO 9001, ISO 19650, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the design process.
  • Stay up to date with new design technologies and attend relevant industry events.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Degree-qualified Civil Engineer, ideally Chartered or working toward professional recognition (ICE or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in civil design within the UK water industry — including drainage, clean water, wastewater treatment, and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Sewer Sector Guidance and Water Industry standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, Revit, or similar design tools.
  • Understanding of BIM integration and digital design workflows (desirable).
  • Strong technical understanding of hydraulic design principles, manual calculation methods, and hydraulic profiling.
  • Ability to design concrete slabs, hardstandings, and associated civil works.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site when required.
