Job summary

The City of Cleveland's Department of Law seeks a transactional and legislative attorney for the House Counsel Section to provide legal counsel to the Director of Law and multiple City departments, including Finance, Public Safety, Capital Projects, Human Resources, and more.

Primary duties include drafting and reviewing contracts, leases, and real estate instruments, as well as conducting legal research and code review.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.
• Strong academic credentials and writing skills are necessary.
• Knowledge of contract, construction, real estate, regulatory, financial, bankruptcy and municipal law is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to the Director of Law and various City departments and offices.
• Draft and review contracts, leases, management agreements, real estate instruments, legislation, codified ordinances and other legal documents.
• Perform legal research and code review.
• Work with City committees, boards and commissions.
