Enterprise Technology is Aegon's global IT partner. We provide dedicated support to Transamerica and we bring all Aegon's business units together through the use of technology. We provide the backbone - the infrastructure - for how everything works. We’re creating the company’s AI environment, building a flexible ‘cloud experience’ for internal hosting services, designing frameworks for data governance and management, and ensuring the security and stability the company’s technology. In short, we enable the business units to move more quickly and deliver to our clients in the best possible way. Whether customers are interested in insurance products or annuities or financial services, we're here to ensure they don't have to worry whether their information is safe.

Across 6 locations, there are over 1,000 employees in the US, the Netherlands, UK, and Hungary, we support 20+ country units in the world. Our global teams are comprised of experts in the areas such as application development, information security, infrastructure services, data & analytics, risk & controls, procurement, program management, and architecture. With the breadth of functions within Enterprise Technology, individuals can pursue a wide variety of careers, and we have a focus on supporting employees’ development. In particular, our Talent Marketplace enables colleagues to take on gigs to broaden their experience and try out different responsibilities, which can be extremely rewarding.

The most important quality in the people who join us is curiosity. A lot of what we do is problem solving, requiring colleagues to take what they know and apply it to new situations. We have many mature processes, but we’re always looking for opportunities to improve, so we want people who are naturally inquisitive and confident enough to challenge the way we do things.

This is a highly visible Product Owner position supporting Agile Scrum teams and working closely with senior leaders across the business. You’ll combine strong technical understanding of modern identity and security architecture with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable requirements. The role requires hands‑on experience guiding critical software products from concept through delivery and operation. You’ll need to be comfortable navigating a regulated environment, managing ambiguity, and balancing competing priorities while ensuring the team stays focused on solving the right problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate a clear product vision grounded in customer insight and market research.

  • Translate this vision into well‑structured epics and user stories with actionable acceptance criteria, ensuring the team understands priorities and desired outcomes.

  • Champion customer needs and ensure product decisions align with company strategy.

  • Develop, prioritise, and maintain the product roadmap and backlog in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

  • Lead backlog refinement, support estimation, manage trade‑offs, and balance short‑term delivery with long‑term goals.

  • Partner closely with UI/UX, Scrum teams, and fellow Product Owners to ensure alignment across products and dependencies.

  • Facilitate continuous feedback loops with customers and stakeholders through frequent delivery and communication.

  • Drive release planning, set expectations for new functionality, and participate in system demos and acceptance activities.

Working Hours

This role requires non-standard working hours (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM BST) to effectively collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the full product lifecycle and agile ways of working.

  • Technical awareness and familiarity with industry standards and best practices.

  • Confident collaborating with multiple teams, both in‑house and remote.

  • Excellent communication skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across product, UX, leadership, and delivery teams.

  • Experience working with agile product management tools such as Jira.

  • Good overall digital skills, including Microsoft Office, and a working understanding of software development.

  • Product Owner or agile certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM).

  • Ongoing engagement in agile learning (training, communities, self‑study).

  • Knowledge of wider agile frameworks and practices (e.g., Kanban, SAFe, XP, LeSS).

  • Experience leading collaboratively across teams.

Benefits
  • We’re serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place. We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we’ll put in 9%. If you decide to contribute more, we’ll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that’s 7% from you and 13% from us).

  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance

  • 36 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro‑rated for part‑time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.
