Overview

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a leading UK power generation provider, recognised for its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. We're seeking a skilled Field Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of its power generation assets.

The Field Engineer role comes with a competitive salary + vehicle + development opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform field-based inspections, planned, and reactive maintenance across diesel and gas generator sets, switchgear, transformers, control systems, and fuel infrastructure.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a zero-harm culture.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and asset data while supporting reliability and performance improvements.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and control system faults.
  • Support asset improvement projects and readiness for dispatch events.
  • Supervise contractors, manage spares and stock levels, and share technical knowledge across the team.
  • Other duties as required.
Professional qualifications
  • Time-served Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (or equivalent proven experience).
  • Experience maintaining diesel or gas generator sets, rotating equipment, or heavy plant.
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work and isolation procedures.
  • Proven fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • IT-literate with experience in maintenance management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications, such as NVQ, HNC, HND, or degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, are desirable.
  • Experience with generator control/protection systems or HV switching is a plus (training can be provided).
