Overview

The Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) is seeking an expert for the Medicines for Women’s Health Expert Advisory Group (MWH EAG). The role advises on safety, quality and efficacy of medicines for clinical use in women, covering contraception, assisted reproduction, obstetrics and gynaecology, menopause, osteoporosis and pregnancy. The closing date is 30 January 2026.

Main duties of the job

Expertise required: Neonatologist/Clinical geneticist. The member must demonstrate the qualities, skills and experience to meet all essential criteria for appointment.

  • The member must demonstrate qualities, skills and experience to meet all essential criteria for appointment.
  • Knowledge and experience of evaluating reports of congenital anomalies for genetic or teratogenic origins.
  • Recognised expertise in their field.
  • Ability to assimilate and interpret complex scientific information and formulate evidence‑based comments/advice at short notice.
  • Prepared to contribute actively to broader aspects of the Medicines for Women’s Health EAG, including issues outside their specialism.
  • Skilled communicator.
  • Work‑knowledge of UK medicines regulations framework and procedures.
  • Willingness to declare conflicts of interest.
  • Strict confidentiality with respect to the work of the EAG.
  • Commitment to values of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, professionalism, impartiality and consistency.
  • Familiarity with congenital anomalies registers.
  • Willingness to provide specialist input on review of Yellow Card reports of medicine use in pregnancy.
