Job Title: Childrens Residential Support Worker - Children's Home

Company: Kelwel Care

Shift Pattern: 2 Days on, 4 days off (Sleep in Required)

Hours: 7:00 AM - 23:00 PM

Salary: From £28,000 a year

We are seeking compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our team in our Ofsted‑regulated home in Great Dunmow.

Please note this role requires candidates to have a full UK driving licence.

Role Overview

You will be working with young people up to 18 years old. You will play a vital role in supporting and helping them to build confidence, life skills, and resilience in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional and practical support to young people, promoting independence, personal development, and life skills.
  • Support with daily living tasks such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, appointments, and accessing education or work.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive environment, responding to any potential safeguarding concerns and following all relevant policies.
  • Build positive, professional relationships and contribute to care plans, key work sessions, and placement reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records and work closely with social workers, education, and health professionals.
  • Promote a safe and supportive home environment that meets safeguarding and health & safety standards.
  • Flexibility ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and sleep‑in shifts (where applicable).
Qualifications And Skills
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young adults in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Education: Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or a related field are preferred.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and motivate young people.
  • Attributes: A proactive and energetic attitude, with a passion for working with young people. A commitment to being a positive influence and role model.
  • Requirements: A valid UK driver's licence and a clear Enhanced DBS check or willingness to complete one.
