Job description
Overview

Position: Children’s Advanced Practitioner

Team: Duty Team | Location: Wigan | Rate: £40

The Duty service in Wigan consists of 5 duty teams and a Duty Academy. You will be on Duty one week in five with the support of a Team Manager. Each team includes a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Senior Social Worker and 5 social workers. Families we work with in Duty require expert assessment and intervention skills at the very first stage of assessment and support.

The Duty service is fast paced. You will work on one of the 5 main Duty teams, and due to a 5-week Duty cycle you will go on Duty 1 in every 5 weeks. Duty teams handle a varying complexity of cases. Case transfer points include the Initial Child Protection Case Conference, the first CLA review, the first PLO meeting, and the 3rd CIN meeting. The Duty service does not hold cases long term; following your assessment and intervention period, the outcome will determine the best team for the family to move to.

You will need to think quickly and be creative to overcome complex challenges. Strong interpersonal and caring skills are essential to support the needs of children, young people and their families. A motivation to empower children and families to reach their own solutions and help them make long-term sustainable family plans is essential. Good analytical skills are key to analyse, risk assess and interpret information to solve problems or develop solutions and plans. This is a hybrid working role.
