Job summary

The Tiger Group Consultancy Ltd is seeking a Waking Night Support Worker for a children’s residential home in Maylandsea, Essex. You will monitor and support young people overnight, ensuring safety, wellbeing and a calm environment.

The role offers a stable 4-on/4-off rota (9:00pm–8:00am), induction and ongoing training, and a competitive salary of £30,888 per year (inclusive of allowances) with a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or residential care preferred.
• Empathy, patience and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK driving licence required.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in providing safety, comfort, and reassurance to children and young people aged 8-17 throughout the night — supporting their emotional wellbeing and ensuring a secure, nurturing environment.

About the Role:

• Monitoring and supporting young people during night hours, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
• Providing a calm, caring presence and responding appropriately to any incidents or emotional needs.
• Maintaining accurate logs, reports, and safeguarding documentation.
• Carrying out light household duties and preparing the home for the following day.
• Working closely with day staff to ensure consistent and high-quality care.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience working with children or young people (residential experience desirable)
• Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK driving licence essential.
