Job description
Overview

Starlight Paediatric Ward is seeking 3 Band 5 Nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality care to children and young people in our local community. The Homerton is an 18-bed unit providing holistic care for babies, children, and young people aged 0–16, with an emerging pathway for 16–17-year-olds. We care for children with a wide range of medical conditions, day cases, and some emergency surgery. Our unit offers HDU care for deteriorating patients prior to transfer if intubation and ventilation are required. We regularly support children with learning difficulties, disabilities, and mental health conditions, and we provide training to help you develop your skills in these areas.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and clinical colleagues within children and families’ services and the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Access support from the Practice Development Nurse and Practice Facilitator to plan your professional development.
  • Support care programmes and care pathways, and assist senior nurses in achieving service objectives.
  • Liaise appropriately with all members of the MDT to promote effective teamwork and participate in MDT meetings.
  • Document all patient details to the required standard in relation to admission, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the appropriate systems.
Working Arrangements
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
  • Role: Band 5 Nurse in a paediatric setting.

Requirements / Notes
  • Please note – this vacancy is not suitable for Overseas Registered Nurses required to take the OSCE exam.
  • The position is open to applicants qualified as Band 5 Nurses.

  • Interviews will be held face to face.
