Children's Services Manager, Children & Families, Stornoway (3243)

Salary: 37 hours per week, Permanent post, £56,374 to £61,371 per annum, inclusive of £2,859 per annum Distant Islands Allowance

Overview

A Children's Services Manager is sought to be responsible for the operational management and delivery of the Children and Families Social Work function (i.e. Child Protection, Looked After Children, Youth Justice, Throughcare/Aftercare, and family-based therapeutic inputs) throughout the Western Isles. The post holder will be responsible for the strategic development of Children\'s Services along with the Head of Service and the Children\'s Services Manager - Resources.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational management and delivery of Children and Families Social Work services.
  • Contribute to strategic development of Children\'s Services in collaboration with senior colleagues.
  • Ensure effective integrated assessment and care management, and adherence to childcare legislation and guidance.
  • Chair Child Care Reviews and monitor quality of child care services.
  • Collaborate with other services and agencies; manage and develop staff; negotiate and problem-solve to meet service demands.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Diploma in Social Work or equivalent with extensive post-qualifying experience in a local authority setting.
  • Experience of chairing Child Care Reviews and monitoring quality of child care services.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with other services and agencies; experience of management in Social Work.
  • Ability to manage competing demands, communicate effectively (verbal and written), negotiate, and lead and motivate staff.
  • Ability to support staff and assist them in managing their workloads.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Registration with the SSSC.
  • Post is subject to membership of the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) as a regulatory requirement for roles with Children and Adults.
Benefits & Conditions

Salary is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade with annual incremental progression. A relocation package is available for this position.
