Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of something new, - helping to launch a vital service within Break's solo children's homes. Based in a peaceful coastal setting, just a 20 minute drive from North Walsham and 40 minutes from Norwich, you could make a real difference in the lives of young people in care., People are our biggest asset in our organisation. We recognise that the key to providing the highest quality of care is to ensure we have a diverse workforce using their life experiences to give the children and young people a well-rounded right start in life. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. The first interview will be a Safe Care/ Warner style interview. If successful after the first interview, candidates will then be expected to attend a formal interview. An enhanced DBS check is required for the role. This will be funded by Break. To comply with OFSTED requirements, you will be asked to provide details of your full employment history.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Residential Support Worker who is ready to take the next step in their career and make a real, lasting impact on the lives of children and young people., As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you'll lead by example, using your experience, compassion and commitment to help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can feel secure, build trust and thrive. For some young people, the behaviours caused by the trauma they have experienced means they need additional support. Break's solo children's homes offer these individuals the full attention they need to be able to thrive. With patience, empathy and consistency, you'll provide a positive role model, helping young people begin to heal from past trauma, rebuild their confidence and learn to trust adults again. Working closely with your colleagues and Break's therapeutic services, you'll help each young person feel valued, understood and supported, encouraging them to embrace new experiences, explore their interests and develop their own identity. Alongside your direct work with young people, you'll take on additional leadership responsibilities. These will include line managing Support Workers, overseeing staff performance and wellbeing, and coordinating staff and resources effectively during shifts. You'll also participate in an on-call rota, helping to ensure the home runs safely and effectively and that young people receive consistent support. To succeed in this role, you'll be a supportive team player with strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make decisions in challenging situations. You'll be adaptable, resilient and able to motivate others, while maintaining a calm, consistent and child-centred approach. Above all, you'll be passionate about helping young people overcome adversity, build positive relationships and achieve brighter futures. You will need to successfully complete a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within the first 24 months of support work. This will be fully funded by Break and you will be supported by our training team. Please note that you must have a full, UK driving licence for this position.

The basic annual salary range for this role is £28,028 to £28,978 per annum. If your application is successful, your job offer will be based on these amounts. Why Break? At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services. We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you're just starting your career in children's social care or are already qualified, you'll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work. In your role, you'll have access to the following benefits:

  • Free, career-enhancing qualifications
  • An enhanced "golden hello" bonus scheme welcoming you to our services, with £1000 paid to you one month after your start date and a second £1000 at the six-month mark. (Not available to candidates referred by recruitment agencies)
  • A referral scheme offering £1000 if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by Break in care services. (subject to conditions)
  • 31 days annual leave per year (including bank holidays)
  • Annual leave purchase
  • Additional service-related holiday from 2 years
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Company funded medical cash plan
  • Enhanced sick pay and family friendly leave
