Overview
Children’s Residential Waking Night Officer in Abingdon, offering a hourly rate of £15.84 for locum work over a 3-month period. As part of Oxfordshire’s dedicated children’s services, you will work overnight to provide essential support and guidance to children and young people in a localised environment. This role is full-time and offers flexibility while you help shape the future of young lives.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the needs of children and young people, ensuring safeguarding concerns are promptly addressed.
- Work closely with Oxfordshire County Council to escalate safeguarding issues and report children as missing, if necessary.
- Cover for colleagues across the county as required, adapting to various settings to support our goals.
- You’ll be collaborating with the building concierge during waking nights, working weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.
- Undertake observations and record them on electronic systems to the agreed standard and within agreed timescales.
- Support cases managed by social workers and lead services delivered through the YPSA service.
- Deliver direct interventions to promote the welfare and successful transition of children.
- Engage flexibly with other professionals in a ‘Team Around the Young Person’ approach for successful outcomes.
- Plan and deliver evidence-based interventions, adhering to risk assessments.
- Foster community knowledge and links to ensure optimal outcomes for children and families.
- Collaborate with professionals across sectors to deliver co-delivered services where beneficial.
- Fulfil responsibilities around cleaning and maintaining the health and safety of the facilities.
- Contribute to statutory processes as required and undergo necessary training and checks, including an enhanced DBS check every three years.
- Take part in emergency and on-call duties to support out-of-hours needs.
